What is glutathione?

Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant found in every cell. It is the most important antioxidant in your body. The body produces and stored both of glutathione in the liver, where it is used to detoxify harmful compounds so they can be eliminated from the body by bile. The liver also supplies GSH directly to red blood cells and white blood cells, but it helps keep red blood cells and white blood cells healthy to maximize the power to fight against diseases of the immune system. Glutathione also appears to have anti-aging affects the body. Glutathione levels decline with age, and lack of glutathione has been shown to leave the body more vulnerable to damage by free radicals, which accelerates the oxidation (Porter) from the body.
