High oxalates Questions?

For what reasons, what the body has trouble metabolizing oxalate? Which is related to low levels of glutathione? The damage to the liver and kidneys to eat oxalates high?

"Oxalic acid binds with calcium oxalate crystals to form calcium can be deposited and cause damage to many areas of the body including the brain, heart, kidneys and lungs. The most significant is the accumulation of calcium oxalate crystals in the kidneys causing kidney damage leading to acute oliguric renal failure or anuria. The limiting step in this cascade is the conversion of glyoxylic acid, glycolic acid. Accumulation of glycolic acid in the body is primarily responsible for the toxicity. "
